Farewell Alf Court
It is with great sadness that we reflect on the passing of Alfred Conway Court (affectionately known as Alf). Alf succumbed to the COVID virus on Monday , 19th July 2021.
Alf spent the biggest part of his professional career working at BP in their procurement team. The number of contacts and friends that he maintained over the years are a testament to his endearing personality, his loyalty and his values. Alf joined 4th Dimension Technology in 2004, and was a much loved member of the Kibo family until his retirement in 2015. In the twilight of his career, Alf was able to re-invent himself into a finance specialist. Alf had the strength and perseverance to not only complete, but completely dominate a tertiary qualification in finance (all done after-hours). This professionalism and pride was reflected in everything that he did.
Through his life, Alf was a passionate sportsman and spectator. Alf attained provincial colours for seniors hockey, and was an enthusiastic club cricketer. He was a formidable opening batsman in the company cricket tournaments – usually enjoyed at our annual Christmas functions. This team culture came to the office with him every day. In a highly stressful environment he never backed away from a challenge, and never had a bad word to say about a colleague. He was a role model for all of us.
Alf will always be fondly remembered by his work colleagues. It has been a privilege to have known and worked with Alf, and a special privilege for me to be his son-in-law.
Alf leaves behind his loving wife, three daughters, four grandchildren and many friends. Our deepest sympathies extend to his family, and all those that knew and loved him.
