Business has had to change rapidly to accommodate a changing global landscape. The COVID-19 global pandemic has changed an evolution in technology, to a revolution in technology. We are all evaluating the advantages and disadvantages that this new lifestyle has forced us to adopt.

When we emerge from this pandemic, most business will be considering how they can leverage these new revelations to their advantage. The COVID-19 pandemic showed us how resilient businesses can be in unusual times. The pandemic has given us a long overdue realization of how much time we waste in senseless activities (like commuting), and how much more productive we can be, when given the right amount of space. We have learnt to be far more efficient with meetings, and we have learnt to communicate effectively through many of the technology tools that we have available. We have learnt the importance of face-to-face human interaction, and hopefully we will all learn to associate more value to these engagements with our families, staff, customers, and suppliers.

Technology has been a pivotal enabler for our survival through this pandemic. Fibre to the Business (FTTB) and Fibre to the Home (FTTH) rollouts have accelerated. These have created a high-speed backbone for remote users to be able to work efficiently on many of the cloud systems available. Voice and video conferencing services like VoIP, Microsoft Teams and Zoom have allowed us to keep in touch with our colleagues and clients. Online platforms like Microsoft 365 (Office 365) in the cloud have allowed our users to work remotely, uninhibited by location and the end device whilst completely protected from the load-shedding challenges.

These new online platforms and distributed networks are now supported by cloud security solutions, including anti-virus, Next Generation Firewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), online backups and seamless Remote Monitoring and Management. These new solutions provide more reliability, better security, improved visibility, and faster response times.

Whether your business is in Johannesburg, Durban or Cape Town (or anywhere in-between), Kibo Connect has been working with hundreds of businesses across South Africa to streamline their technology, lower costs, improve performance and reduce risk. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss how we can have a positive impact on your business.
